Pjur Original Silicone Personal Lubricant - 250 ml Bottle

A 250 ml bottle of silicone-based lubricant. It isn't suited to silicone toys: for those, a water-based lubricant is better. To remove it from your skin, use soap and water.

The essentials: Pjur Original 250 ml

• Silicone-based: It's a silicone lubricant, not a water-based or oil-based one
• 250 ml: Comes in a bottle
• Not for silicone toys: It can damage their surface. With silicone toys, use a water-based lubricant
• Soap and water: To remove it, water alone isn't enough

Who the Pjur Original 250 ml is for, and who it isn't for

It suits you if

• You want a silicone-based lubricant.
• You want to use it on skin, with no silicone toys involved.
• You want a 250 ml bottle to keep at home.

Better look elsewhere if

• You use silicone toys. A water-based lubricant works better with them.
• You get more discomfort with silicone lubricants. In the study we cite below, water-based lubricants were associated with fewer genital symptoms.

How to use the Pjur Original 250 ml

1. Put a little in your hand and spread it over your skin or the toy.
2. Add more if you need to while you're using it.
3. With toys, only use it on those that aren't silicone.
4. Afterwards, wash with soap and water. Water alone isn't enough to remove a silicone lubricant.

Storage

Close the bottle tightly after use and store it somewhere cool, away from sunlight.

Our tips

• If you notice itching, stinging or irritation, stop using it and wash.
• If you have sensitive skin or allergies, test it first on a small patch of skin.
• If it gets on the floor of the shower or bath, clean it up well. Silicone lubricant is very slippery.

What the science says about silicone and water-based lubricants

The studies we cite did not test this lubricant. What has been studied is the use of silicone-based and water-based lubricants.

• 2,453 adult women who used one of six water-based or silicone lubricants. In a 5-week diary, water-based lubricants were associated with fewer genital symptoms than silicone ones, and both types with more pleasure and sexual satisfaction. This is an association, not cause and effect. Herbenick et al., 2011, The journal of sexual medicine.
